3 Steps to start your work the RIGHT way

Writer: Gurupma SinghGurupma Singh

1. Make a list

First things first, before you can do what you need to do, you’ve got to know what you’ve got to do. Making a list clarifies exactly what it is you’ve got to get done and it’s the first step to being more productive. Create a primary list which has everything that you need to get done. Next make a secondary list with everything that you plan to get done for that day. After this, put an estimate on how long each task will task will take, and this follows through onto the next step.

2. Prioritise

Most things you’ve got to get done comes with a time limit now it's common for people to tell you to prioritise what you’ve got to do however the way to prioritise well isn’t so common. The best thing to do is follow the 5-minute rule. Review your list and get anything that you can get done in under 5 minutes first. This means that when you come onto the bigger more important things, you’re no longer worrying about the little things.

3. Remind yourself of why

Often, we can look at a piece of homework as just as a piece of homework but if we turn it into something bigger than that we can convince to start it as soon as possible. If instead of thinking this is just something my teacher gave me to keep me busy, look at it in the bigger picture. Imagine this piece of homework is going to be key to get that mark you need to go from a D to a C or a B to an A. If you’re looking at the bigger picture that grade that you need to improve might be the grade you need to get into the university of your choice and this same process can be applied to anyone's situation.
